ChitoHem is an antibacterial, biocompatible hemostatic powder made of polysaccharide, oxidized regenerated cellulose, suitable for all types of bleeding including arterial, venous, capillary and oozing in surgical procedures or injuries. It prevents postoperative adhesion.

ChitoHem is an antibacterial, biocompatible hemostatic powder made of polysaccharide and oxidized regenerated cellulose, suitable for all types of bleeding including arterial, venous, capillary and oozing in surgical procedures or injuries. It prevents postoperative adhesion.

Particle size of ChitoHem powder is within 38-150 µm leading to fast penetration of bleeding site making it suitable for patients with coagulopathic disorders including hemophilia, Glanzmann & Von Willebrand diseases and problematic bleeding situations. It generates no heat.

ChitoHem has a special applicator (in sizes of 10 and 38 cm). The applicator is an effective powder delivery system capable of delivering a controlled amount of hemostatic powder accurately at the bleeding site during laparoscopic surgery and out of reach of areas.

Warnings

Although ChitoHem is an antibacterial hemostatic agent, it is not intended to be used as a substitute for systemically administered therapeutic prophylactic antimicrobial agents to control or to prevent postoperative infections.
Since ChitoHem will swell and could exert slight pressure, it must be removed after hemostasis in neurosurgery, bony tissues and the spinal cord surgeries.
Avoid using ChitoHem for implantation in bone defects, such as fractures, to avoid interference with bone cell formation and increasing the risk of cyst formation.
Do not inject ChitoHem into blood vessel

Instructions

1- Take out ChitoHem powder and Applicator from the packaging.

2- Clean the bleeding site using sterile gauze. Press the tip of the Chito Hem mini hemovag into the applicators mouth.

3- Pump the desired amount of ChitoHem powder by holding the applicator handles and pressing the mini hemovag using your thumb.

4- Less than 1 minute bleeding is stopped if needed, repeat the section 3.Compress the source of bleeding for 2-3 minutes using a dry compress.
